Private and group lessons at The Club and Retreat at Garden of the Gods are given by our Director of Tennis, Scott Leifer, USPTA Elite Professional, or Assistant Professional, David Cook, USPTA/USPTR-certified.

2.5 / Novice Class

Mondays, 9:30a.m. – 11 a.m. New to tennis? No problem! This fun, 10-week beginner program will teach you how to play, how to move, the rules of the game and proper technique.

3.0 Class

Thursdays, 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Saturdays, 8 a.m. – 9 a.m. Member drop-in $15, Non-Member drop-in $20 Adult players of this level are fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced balls, but are not entirely comfortable with all strokes and lack control and execution. The most common doubles formation is one up, one back.

3.5 Class

Wednesdays, 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Saturdays 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Member drop-in $15, Non-Member drop-in $20 Adult players of this level have improved court coverage and are developing teamwork in doubles play. This player has dependable strokes but lacks depth and variety.

4.0 Class

Tuesdays, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Member drop-in $15, Non-Member drop-in $20 Adult players of this level have dependable strokes and have developed an all-around game that forces errors with the serve. Teamwork in doubles is evident.

Davis Cup Clinic

Mondays, 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays, 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Sundays, 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. Member drop-in $20, Non-Member drop-in $25 All levels welcome, this drill has a nickname “the grind”; high-intensity drills; not much time for chatting; no games, just drill after drill; get ready to hit a lot of balls.

Tennis-Cize

The Garden of the Gods Collection provides the ultimate tennis packages for all-level USTA teams and private tennis camps are also available. These three-day, two-night customized camps are ideal for women’s or men’s USTA teams as well as families, friends, corporate retreats and other groups. Private Adult Tennis Camps include:

  • Instruction by our most experienced tennis pros, featuring a 5:1 ratio
  • Three-day, two-night package or three-night packages
  • Fall, winter and spring camps include a total of 11 hours of instruction, including supervised match play on Day Two after lunch
  • Sony Smart Tennis Sensor available
  • Complimentary court time and match-arranging daily
  • Standard guest room with upgrade options available
  • Incidental service fee and taxes are not included in the prices quoted for private camps

June 5, 2017 – August 4, 2017

Junior Team Tennis is a USTA-sanctioned program to facilitate interclub match play among local clubs. Matches consist of two singles matches and one doubles match in both boys’ and girls’ events. A minimum of four players is needed to field a team. We are asking all players to fill out the attached form (form coming soon) by May 20, 2017. As usual, we have the best coaching staff in Colorado Springs! Coaches will be present at all practices and home matches. The cost to play is $265 for members and $300 for non-members. An additional separate payment of $35 includes the team T-shirt ($14) and USTA fee ($21). Please make the $35 check out directly to Scott Leifer, our Director of Tennis. Practices will consist of stretching, footwork, technique, drills, strategy, match play and most importantly, having fun. The matches will take place on Mondays at our home court or at another club in the city. If the team qualifies for playoffs, they will take place in Denver August 6-8. In anticipation of the upcoming USTA season. See your tennis coaches in a different light, footwork, core exercises, push-ups if you don’t follow the drill, high-intensity drills. You must sign up for whole Camp. $300.

Memorial Day Mixer

Spirited COED Round Robin play. 16 player limit, $15

Free Pickle Ball Clinic
June 2 | 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Come anyone and everyone, learn the fastest-growing sport in America. If you have never played pickle ball, come join us for a little clinic and play session. We might even have some pickles.

Free Adult Tennis Day
June 4 | 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
This is for any adult tennis member, please come and enjoy a free day of tennis (all levels welcome). Fun drills and game, following tennis drill BBQ at the pool.

Club Championships

Juniors play one day Round Robin on Saturday; Adults play one day Round Robin on Sunday. Singles, doubles and maybe mixed. All levels of play welcome; we might have to combine some levels depending on how many players want to participate. Award ceremony following the day of play.

Labor Day/Flashback Woods and Whites
September 4 | 8:30 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Wear your finest white shirt and shorts and bring a wooden racket. COED Round Robin play. 16 player limit, $15

Breast Cancer Awareness Event
October 7

Pro-Am, we will pair players with a pro and you will get to play some spirited doubles with a tennis professional. Rules and regulations will be coming. We would like an audience who would like to raise money for the cause. Bet on your favorite player plus pay for points/serves and other shots. Awards and prizes go out to best dressed in pink. Great cause. More information to follow.

Junior Tennis Camps (all ages)

This is for any junior tennis member, please come and enjoy a free day of tennis (all levels welcome). Fun drills and games, and pizza and ice cream too; this is in appreciation of our huge junior program.
