Rich Parker, PGA
Director of Golf/Head Golf Professional
Rich Parker comes to us from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where he was the Head Golf Professional at Benvenue Country Club for the past 15 years. Along with substantial professional golf management experience, he brings great enthusiasm and vision to our operation and tournament programs. Rich and his wife Beth have three children: Meredith, John and Andrew.
Ben Spiers, PGA
1st Assistant Golf Professional
Having grown up in the Colorado Springs area, Ben attended Manitou Springs Elementary, Middle and High School. Ben has successfully completed the PGA of America PGA/PGM professional golf management program. This program is designed to equip golf professionals with the tools necessary to manage their own facility, and has a primary focus on teaching the game of golf. Prior to joining The Club at Garden of the Gods in 2008, Ben worked at The Broadmoor Golf Club for four years. He enjoys playing golf, hiking, and spending time with friends and family during his free time. He and his wife, Rachel, are proud parents of three children: Alivia, Nolan and Graysen.
Golf Operations Manager
Doug has worked at The Club at Garden of the Gods since June 1988. He moved here from Palm Desert, California, where he worked for Sunrise Company at Palm Valley Country Club for five years. His daughter, Ashton, happily dominates most of his free time with all of her energy, but when he can slip away, he also enjoys playing golf with friends and traveling.
A native of Colorado, Jeanne and her husband, John, have lived in Colorado Springs since 1973. Jeanne has been part of The Club at Garden of the Gods family since 2001. Thanks to her hard work, The Kissing Camels Golf Shop has been featured in several trade publications and won many awards. She has three children and six adorable grandchildren. When not at work, she enjoys golfing, all mountain sports, and whatever the grandkids want to do.
Michael Loosley, PGA
Assistant Golf Professional
A native of Colorado Springs, Michael played on the golf team at North for two years and Palmer High School for three years. As a sophomore, he received the Most Improved Player award and as a senior, he won the Most Valuable Player award. When not playing golf for Palmer, he was playing hockey and won a State Championship in his senior year. During high school, he began his golf career at Cherokee Ridge Golf Course as a member of the Outside Services and Kissing Camels Golf Shop Attendant Teams. After graduation, he began to play more competitive golf in local, CGA and USGA events. In 2004, he was hired as the Kissing Camels Golf Shop Assistant at Cherokee Ridge and quickly realized that he wanted to pursue his golf career and become a member of the PGA. For the past five years, he tended bar at The Club at Garden of the Gods. In October 2009, he married his long-time sweetheart, Rebecca. He and his wife are proud parents of their son Carter.
Golf and Grounds Superintendent
Chris was born and raised in Iowa. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and an emphasis in Horticulture. He began his golf course maintenance career at the NMSU University Course and Santa Ana Golf Club in New Mexico as the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. He moved to Colorado Springs in 2006 to accept the role of Assistant Superintendent at The Club at Garden of the Gods. Then, he was promoted to the Golf Course Superintendent role in 2007. He holds a Class A status as a Superintendent through the GCSAA. When not working, he is passionate about his family and Cardinals baseball. Chris and his wife, Danniella, have been married since 2008 and have two wonderful children, Austin, 5 years old, and Michaela, 4 years old.
Shirley Englehorn, LPGA
Master Life Professional, 2014 class of the LPGA T&CP Hall of Fame
Shirley joined the LPGA Teaching Division in 1965, earning her LPGA Master Professional certification after retiring from the tour in 1979. She conducted hundreds of exhibitions nationally and internationally, was voted one of the top six teachers in America by Golf Digest in 1976 and received the LPGA National Teacher of the Year award in 1978. Englehorn remains active in the golf industry as a teaching professional, most recently at The Club and Retreat at Garden of the Gods, promoting love of the game to the next generation of young golfers. We are very fortunate to have such an esteemed member of the LPGA, like Shirley, involved with our instructional programs at the Garden of the Gods Collection. Without a doubt, Shirley Englehorn is a great role model, humanitarian and devoted instructor to all the lives she touches and students she impacts.
