Kissing Camels Golf Tournaments

Kissing Camels Golf Course is a challenging 27-hole classic Colorado Springs golf course, designed by J. Press Maxwell and Mark Rathert, featuring bunkered greens, towering pines, and the landscaping of the lush mountain range. Former host of the Senior Women’s Amateur Tournament, this 50-year-old course spans more than 7,000 yards per 18 holes at our Colorado Springs golf resort. The driving range and practice facilities offer Members and guests the opportunity to work on their games, and personalized golf instruction from PGA professional staff is available. The fully stocked pro shop carries the latest in golf equipment, fashion, and accessories for gentlemen, ladies, and children at our golf resort in Colorado.

This is our 2017 tourney schedule:

5/20–5/21 – Spring Fling Member-Member Golf Tournament

The Spring Member-Member is open to all members with golfing privileges and a USGA established handicap. Please sign up as a two-person team.  Being the first event of the season, we want every member to begin the season in a relaxed format.  This year’s formats will be a 1 Best Ball Shamble (Gross + Net combined) for both days of the event. Best Ball Shamble format: Each player tees off.  Once the best drive of the two-person team is selected, both players will play their own ball in from that position (the same ball may be used for both gross and net scores). The Flights will be determined by combined team handicap index.  Entry fee includes: Tee gift and awards, a breakfast for all participants on Saturday morning as well as an awards luncheon following play on Sunday.

6/19–6/22 – 56th Annual Smoochers Golf Tournament (Ladies Member-Guest)

The Smoochers is our premier women’s golf event, and is limited to 30 teams of four women (2 members and 2 guests or 1 member and 3 guests).  It is a three-day competitive event with an optional practice round on Monday. Tournament rounds are Tuesday – Thursday consisting of one round of 2 Best Balls of the Foursome Shamble (Gross and Net) and two rounds of 2 Better Balls of the Foursome (Gross and Net).  Formats are as follows: 2 Better Balls Shamble of the Foursome: Each player hits her tee shot.  The team then selects the best drive.  Each player will then play their own ball from the selected position until their ball is holed.  One better ball gross and one better ball net will be recorded for the team. The gross and net scores must come from different players on the team.  2 Better Balls of the Foursome (Gross and Net): Playing your own ball throughout 18-holes.  One better ball gross and one better ball net will be recorded for the team.  The gross and net scores must come from different players on the team.  The maximum HCP for this event is 32 strokes.  Entry Fee Includes: Tee gifts and awards. Breakfast provided prior to each round, cocktail party and heavy hors d’oeuvres at our opening ceremonies on Tuesday evening followed by an awards luncheon after play on Thursday.

7/13–7/15 – 56th Annual Camel Drivers Golf Tournament (Men’s Member-Guest)

Camel Drivers is our premier men’s event (Men’s Member-Guest), and is limited to the first 60 teams of two.  It is a three-day event with an optional 9-hole practice round on Thursday morning and competition beginning on Thursday afternoon-Saturday. Formats for this event are as follows: Two-Man Scramble (Gross & Net) on Friday afternoon, 18-Hole Shamble (Gross & Net) on Saturday followed by the 18-Holes of Better Ball of the Partners (Gross & Net).   Flights are determined by combined team handicap index. There is a senior division for those teams with both players 70 years and older that wish to compete.  In addition to the tournament proper, there are a number of additional daily games that coincide with the Camel Drivers Tournament.   Entry Fee includes: Tee gifts and prizes, breakfast prior to golf on all days of competition, player’s lunches, opening and closing dinners as well as social activities for spouses throughout the weekend.

8/10–8/12 – 49th Annual Sheiks & Shebas Golf Tournament (Couples Member-Guest)

The Sheiks and Shebas is our premier couple’s event; limited to the first 30 teams of four.  It is a three-day event with an optional practice round on Thursday morning. Tournament rounds begin Friday and continue through Saturday consisting of one round of 4-Person Shamble (1Better Ball of the Men + 1 Better Ball of the Ladies – Gross and Net) and Better Ball of the Couples (1 Better Ball of the Member Couple + 1 Better Ball of the Guest Couple – Gross and Net).  Entry fee Includes: Breakfast prior to each round, opening dinner with entertainment on Thursday evening, followed by closing ceremonies and an awards dinner with entertainment on Saturday evening.

8/23–8/27 – Club Championship Week

The week will highlight our Men and Women with the playing of the MGL Championship, Men’s Club Championship, as well as the Ladies Club Championship.

8/23 – Men’s Golf League Championship

This event is open to all MGL members.  The League Championship is a one day individual Best Ball format (low gross / low net event).  Each participant will play their own ball over the course of 18-holes and record their gross score.  Net scores will be determined by subtracting the player’s handicap from their gross score. Prizes will be awarded to both gross and net champions.

8/24–25 – Ladies Club Championship

This Ladies Club Championship is open to all female golfing members that have an established USGA handicap. The Ladies Club Championship is a two-day low gross / low net event.  The event will be flighted based on the individual’s handicap index. Those ladies playing from the orange tees will be competing for the overall Club Championship.  Ladies competing from the yellow tees will be playing for flight championships (gross and net).  Prizes will be awarded accordingly per flight.

8/26–27 – Men’s Club Championship

This event is open to all male golfing members that have an established USGA handicap.  It is a two-day low gross / low net event.  The event will be flighted on the individual’s handicap index.  Those participants playing from the blue tees and those that declare to playing the Championship Flight will be eligible to win the Men’s Club Championship. Participants playing other tees will be eligible to win flight championships.  The Senior Men’s Club Championship is incorporated with this event.  Senior Men will play the red tee markers and are all eligible to win the Senior Club Championship.

9/30–10/1 – Fall Classic Member-Member Golf Tournament
